Spunky Modern Vintage Kitchen
This ranch-style kitchen was rejuvenated through whimsical prints, pops of colors and mid-century modern silhouettes.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This gorgeous ranch style home was given a full infusion of personality through color, contrast, and prints. The kitchen remodel included adding an eat-in peninsula (originally a floor to ceiling wall). Dark gray cabinets, antique brass hardware, and gleaming quartz countertops gave this space a dramatic foundation on which we layered character filled elements. The green shades on the sconce above the leaded glass window, the pale pink pantry, the artsy wood bar stools, and the printed wallpaper all play together to create an interesting and inspired kitchen. The glossy penny tiles around the window add a touch of sparkle and aid in reflecting light throughout the room. A leaded glass door was salvaged from the reno and repurposed into a pocket door into the pantry. The cabinetry design afforded a small bench seat in the new mudroom space, which is 100% functional while really adding to the overall charm of the space (the bench cushion even has a pink velvet welt!). The original home had a low ceiling over the staircase, which we were able to demo to reveal a beautiful original window. Adding the crystal chandelier to the staircase further highlighted this new ceiling height (oh, and did I mention the ostrich wallpaper?). Our favorite part of this project was working with the homeowners, whose inspired taste allowed us to take the creative design process to new heights.
