ABOUT THIS PROJECT

In this project, we had the opportunity to reimagine the main floor of a classic craftsman home in Seattle. It was very important to our clients to honor the original style of the home while at the same time, updating the overall look and incorporating modern elements. The kitchen was a fun challenge because we completely changed the layout of the first floor and got to redesign the kitchen in a totally new area of the home. Our clients wanted the kitchen to feel open and airy so we opted for floating shelves instead of upper cabinets. This design choice really allows the gorgeous backsplash tile to shine. Although we lost a bit of storage in the way of upper cabinets, we were able to make up for it with the creative use of a large kitchen island. We incorporated storage, an undermount microwave and a drink fridge in the island to minimize visible appliances. We were also able to provide additional storage with a butler's pantry just off the kitchen.

The lighting we selected for this space was very intentional. We wanted it to have an heirloom feel while also melding with a quite modern kitchen. We found exactly what we were looking for at Rejuvenation. Beautiful glass pendants add interest to the streamlined kitchen island and coordinate perfectly with a statement fixture over the sink.
