In this project, we were able to reimagine the main level of this charming craftsman home to create a space that gave this family a much more functional and beautiful space. This client had a very clear vision of what look they wanted and we were able to collaborate with them to bring their vision to life and focus on design details that would have a big impact on the overall look. We worked alongside an architect to redesign the layout of the original kitchen in order to open up the space and make it better suited for entertaining. It was really important to our clients that the home keep its original charm - but - it was also important for the space to feel updated and fresh. By selecting both modern and classic elements, we were able to achieve a finished space that truly feels stylistically connected to the rest of the home. In the kitchen, you’ll notice an adorable dutch door that really speaks to the original style of the home. We decided to paint it a soft pink to add a bit of personality and interest to the space. We focussed on little details like cabinet knobs, and used these small moment as an opportunity to include more vintage elements like glass knobs. A really fun part of this space is a custom-built homework station. Our client wanted a dedicated space for homework and computer work that was away from the kitchen in an attempt to keep screens out of that space. We designed a completely custom work station where the kids can focus on homework - it is a small space that is highly functional. We added wallpaper as an extra design element to make this work station feel very intentional, thoughtful and, of course, fun.
We partnered with The Phinery, specifically Sarah and Becky, on a pretty major remodel. The process was seamless and working with Sarah and Becky was nothing but a joy because we were so in sync on the vision. They came up with beautiful designs for our dining area, kitchen, office and master suite that kept the history of our Seattle craftsman intact while also modernizing in the ways we were looking for. I can't wait to work with them on another project in the future.
