Botanical wallpapers offer an opportunity to bring the 'inside in' while offering a variety of styles to suit every taste! There are so many fun prints and color ways from which to choose. We've highlighted a few of our favorites below.
BEAUTIFULLY BOLD
Feeling like a bit of drama? Consider a wallpaper with a bold palette that offers serious contrast. We love this print, called Artemis by House of Hackney, that we sourced for our client via Anthropologie. Multi-color florals set on a black background offer a modern look while creating a foundational color palette for your room. The result is a romantically bold statement wall. With so much energy on the wall, consider more neutral furnishings peppered with touches of color inspired by the wallpaper. In this room, we chose to pull in one of our all-time favorite pillows - The Fiona - which picks up on the subtle pink flowers dawning the branches. Rather than pulling in a coral or teal accent, the pink is soft enough to stand on its own and support the wallpaper.
PATTERN PLAY
For an equally bold option, look for patterns that have a dark background but with a lighter, neutral subject like this gorgeous magnolia wallpaper! We love how this wallpaper
Magnolia Wallpaper by Milton + King creates movement on the wall due to the large scale of the flowers. We kept the bedding simple, pulling in a touch of black with the blanket and a bit of pink with the pillows. Nice and easy!
VINTAGE JEWEL
Powder bathrooms are our favorite rooms to wallpaper! In this bathroom, we selected vintage-inspired
Dahlia Garden by Borastapeter to align with the architecture and style of the historic home. We custom painted the vanity to coordinate with the paper, which helped the wallpaper feel intentional. Mixing metal finishes added bit of sparkle to the soft print and color palette. You'll notice that the paint colors were perfectly selected for this room as well, which was a critical element to this design. If you love vintage-inspired floral wallpaper as much as we do, check out prints by
Schumacher and
Morris & Co.
LIMITLESS BACKDROP
Love floral wallpaper but can't commit to a busy pattern? Something a little less literal and more neutral might be the way to go. Neutrals are an excellent way to keep a space feeling fresh and crisp while still providing some pop! An achromatic wallpaper color palette gives you the option to slowly introduce color into your space through fun bedding or artwork. We love
Schumacher's Acanthus Stripe in this primary bedroom because it adds texture, depth and a beautifully simple pattern that is reminiscent of botanicals.
PRO-TIP: Keep the tones of your neutrals in mind when making your selections! We love spaces that feel balanced with both warm and cool tones. This could be as easy as choosing a warm greige drapery set, cool walnut or espresso wood finishes, brass light fixtures, etc.
