Decorating with Spa & Sage

Porcelain Blue Dresser with Spa & Sage DecorWhen our Seattle interior design team sat down to discuss the colors we wanted to feature this month, we found that we kept coming back to cool, calming tones. It may have just been the unusually hot Seattle weather, but we all felt motivated to create lush and refreshing spaces. We wanted to put together shades that were soothing and easy to incorporate into your home, but also felt fresh, light and summery. After playing with fabric, paint swatches and redecorating the store, we settled on this month’s color story: Spa & Sage.

Experience the Spa & Sage collection.

To give your room a spa-like refresh, start with neutral furnishings and then layer on porcelain blues, wood tones, and plenty of cream accents. Adding greenery with indoor plants, succulents, or even faux botanicals, will bring the outside in – completing the look. Texture is important with this palette, so think about how you can mix up the feel of your accessories to give your room an organic look. A new throw blanket, pillow or rug can make a big impact! As a final touch, consider adding a warm tone accent or two. Those accents can be as simple as a few coffee table books, a vase of fresh flowers, a small throw pillow, or decorative vase.

Why We Love Spa & Sage + Tips:

  • Both have a natural element to them – think a mossy hill below a blue/grey sky, or an ocean view with tall green grasses along the beach. Spa blue and sage green add a breezy, organic feel.
  • Spa & Sage pair well with pops of metallic like brass and pewter. They also look great with textures like linen, fur, and jute. Incorporate light and/or dark wood tones for contrast.
  • Want a bit more color? Both spa and sage serve as a great foundation for layering warm tones like corals, crimsons, mustards and oranges.
  • If you deepen one tone and lighten the other, the concept is still fool proof – there are endless interpretations of this palette! Neither color has to compete for your attention. Both colors work in harmony to enhance the other accents in your room.
