This office was such a treat to design. My client had recently suffered the loss of her father, and wanted to create an office space that incorporated a few of the special pieces from her dad. It was an honor to be a part of the process.
We started by incorporating the large wooden desk, which was her father’s. We started adding brass accents like the desk lamp and the retro swivel desk chair from Pottery Barn Teen. We added burnished floating shelves, which my client used to display a few of her decorative items. The wool jute rug from West Elm complimented the hardwood floors and added great texture. We reupholstered her father’s settee in a Fabricut pattern in navy. We added the swirly draperies for some youthful flair. After taking one of my mini furniture painting classes, my client hand painted her father’s antique bookcase cabinet using General Finishes Milk Paint in Coastal Blue. It turned out so well, and really added to the character of the piece.
We modernized the room by painting the walls white and keeping to a consistent color scheme. The result is a peaceful space, full of style and wonderful memories.
